"DomeNet" is the local intranet for the Dome. It was designed and manufactured by Steve, using ASP technology and JavaScripting. It represents my largest single venture into web-based programming to date using anything other than html. I used Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Photoshop to assist me.

I have used ASP, JavaScripting, and C++ previously in my job to create such things as online employment applications, feedback forms, and integration with programs and databases on the local servers.

Using these skills, and learning others, I created simple applications for DomeNet to be used by the all-powerful Residents Of The Dome. One basic application is a simple "whiteboard", which emulates the real thing. The user types a message into a box on the page, and the message is properly formatted (word wrapped, etc) and appended onto the end of the current whiteboard message, with the oldest lines being removed if necessary. The other application currently online is a Contacts section, in which the user can enter information about a "contact", such as Name, Info, or Website, and the contact gets added to the list, alphabetically. The user can also add other categories and sub-categories for contacts. The text in the "Contacts" and "Subcategories" boxes scroll using the buttons attached to each pane. Click on the screenshot to the right to see a larger version. This application makes large use of the ASP FileSystemObject, and reads and writes the contacts, tables of contents, and other files to disk rather than a database.
