Manchine was formed by Jarrett Manteuffel and Steve Gurasich in the Winter of 1998/99. Jarrett and Steve had been working together in other bands prior to forming Manchine. After a period of time not working on music, Jarrett and Steve formed Manchine, a new electronic-industrial project, and commenced work on early songs that would be on the Software Induced Dream CD, such as "Trench Warfare", "Life", and "Babylon".

Working out of Jarrett's apartment, we then worked on songs of a slightly different mood and style, such as "Showtime", "Cheating Death", and "Alive". Our sound was continuing to change and evolve along with our methods and equipment. In the earlier months, we would work with a Korg M1, a MIDI control keyboard, and earlier versions of Cakewalk, Fruity Loops, and Rebirth, as well as Sound Forge and any other instruments such as guitars or sampling equipment.

During the second half of working on our first CD, we created songs such as "Nervous", "New Age", and "Software Induced Dream". We also gained a temporary new band member, and shortly after Jarrett came up with "Clone", "Liquid Crystal", and "Epitaph". Our music continued to change and evolve as we did.

We finished up the Software Induced Dream CD after moving our equipment to a new location, and immediately started working on songs such as "Searching for Nothing" and "Justice". These songs were our first to use vocals, and saw the debut of Jessica Jones, Jarrett's girlfriend, into the music. During the production, recording, and mastering of these songs we continued to upgrade our equipment and methods, which can be seen from the change in overall quality since the songs on the previous CD.

We have recently completed work on our second CD, Not Yet Known. Both of our CDs are for sale here, and you can listen to or download songs from each CD here.

We are currently using a Kawai K5000S synthesizer, Yahama MD-8 multitrack mixer/recorder, E-MU ESI-32 sampler, Orbit synth module, Zoom voice processor, as well as current versions of many software programs, including Reason, Cakewalk, Fruity Loops Pro, Sound Forge, and many other synth programs and smaller hardware devices. We have always done and are still doing all of our own recording, mixing, producing, and mastering for all of our songs.
